Capnography

Benefits of CO2 Sensors in Capnography:

  • CO2Meter sensors are cost-effective and use best-in-class NDIR technology
  • Commonly used to provide accurate CO2 morphology for patient diagnosis
  • Provide the end-user with the ability to analyze CO2 waveforms
  • Some of our sensors are also compatible with pumped gas analysis systems

How is CO2 measured in capnography?

The amount of CO2 exhaled at the end of each breath (EtCO2) is typically monitored through a sensor located between the patient's airway and the ventilator. Then, is numerically and graphically displayed as a waveform. This ETco2 monitoring provides key information about CO2 production and ventilation; as well as breath-by-breath analysis of ventilatory status.

What does high CO2 capnography mean?

High ETCO2 is a good sign of good ventilation, while low ETCO2 is a bad sign that represents hypoventilation. If the patient has slow or shallow respirations, it means he is retaining CO2 in his blood, so less CO2 will pass through his airway, then a low ETCO2 will show on the monitor.
