Breweries and Wineries

Prevent gas leaks and protect staff

What are the Hazards of CO2 in Breweries?

• Increased Use of Stored CO2
• Changing Regulations and Codes
• High Cost of Inaction

Winery and Brewery employees succumb to high levels of CO2 daily. For example:

  • A brewery owner was found dead with his head and torso in a beer mixing tank. Investigators believe that after cleaning the tank, the owner had leaned inside to check it and was overcome by the CO2 inside.

  • A brewery worker was found dead in a pressure tank used to recirculate wheat beer. He went into the tank to fit a yeast plug and was found up to his hips inside, poisoned by CO2.

  • An accident at a Mexican brewery claimed the lives of seven workers who were cleaning tanks. Three of the employees entered the tanks in an effort to rescue the other four employees. Read more on the importance of brewing CO2 safety monitoring, here.

Does OSHA cover breweries?

Remote CO2 Storage Safety AlarmBecause of tragedies like above, most local municipalities or Fire Codes now require CO2 safety devices. In addition OSHA includes policies and programs that cover breweries and that brewers must comply with to keep their establishments safe.

Our Wired CO2 Safety Monitors are designed to:

• Meet All-State Fire Codes
• Meet NFPA, IFC, and NBIC Requirements
• Meet OSHA and NIOSH TWA Standards

How CO2 Monitors Benefit Breweries & Beverage

CO2 safety monitors benefit breweries, beverage manufacturers, and wineries by ensuring safe CO2 levels, protecting employees from potential exposure risks, and preventing accidents. These monitors help facilities maintain compliance with gas safety regulations, optimize production processes, and create a safer working environment.
