Refrigeration Systems

Beat the Freeze with Gas Detection Monitoring - CO2Meter

Refrigeration systems above a certain size must be equipped with a gas detection safety system. These requirements for gas detection systems depend on the type of refrigerant and the specific application. With a gas detection safety system, you can adapt precisely to the relevant regulations (switch thresholds) and depending on your application utilize multiple gas sensors to fit your environment.

What Gas Hazards are present in Refrigeration?

In refrigeration systems, it is necessary to distinguish between natural refrigerant gases and synthetic refrigerants. Synthetic refrigerants can affect health and must therefore be monitored for leaks in the circuits. With the natural refrigerants, such as propane, ammonia and CO2 there is always the danger of explosion in case of leak and also the danger of poisoning.

In this case, it is particularly important to react to the properties of the respective gases by monitoring them appropriately with gas detection safety systems or detectors.

What is a Refrigerant Gas?

A refrigerant is a working fluid used in the refrigeration cycle of air conditioning systems and heat pumps where in most cases they undergo a repeated phase transition from a liquid to a gas and back again. Refrigerants are heavily regulated due to their toxicity and flammability.

Benefits of Refrigerant Gas Safety Systems:

  • Choose between 50+ gas sensors/types developed to meet the industry needs
  • Gain continuous further monitoring across all refrigerant gas types
  • Small controllers can monitor up to 3 sensors and provide instant warning
  • Precise sensors are used for both natural and synthetic refrigerant gases
