Carbon dioxide, in the form of underground off-gassing, dry ice or liquid CO2 delivery systems, or portable heaters can pose a potential deadly threat. Because it is odorless and colorless, workers can easily be overcome by high levels of CO2 in enclosed spaces. Our battery operated and portable CO2 monitors with alarms are used in the construction industry, by breweries, machine shops, garages and many other businesses as a low-cost way to warn employees to stay out of enclosed areas with high carbon dioxide levels.

When it comes to indoor air quality, carbon dioxide is the “canary in the mineshaft”. As CO2 levels rise, the quantity of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), odors and micro-organisms in the air rise too. That’s why HVAC engineers use carbon dioxide level transmitters to regulate airflow in modern office buildings.

In addition to air quality, a carbon dioxide can also affect your health. Studies have shown high CO2 concentrations affect your ability to concentrate on tasks. If you find yourself sleepy in the office or the classroom, it may be a buildup of CO2!

Energy Savings

Carbon dioxide transmitters used in LEED certified and on-demand HVACR systems to conserve energy. Rather than continuously “dumping” conditioned air, a carbon dioxide transmitter with relay can turn on the heat, fans, or air conditioners when people enter the room, and turn them off when they leave.

Studies have shown that CO2 - based air control can result in up to 50% energy savings.

Capnography and Medicine

Capnography is the monitoring of carbon dioxide in the respiratory gases. It is increasingly being used by emergency medical personnel and hospitals as a tool to judge the condition of patients. For example, by measuring the end-tidal CO2 (ETCO2, the level of carbon dioxide released at the end of expiration) through a mask attached to a CO2 sensor, EMS technicians can receive an early warning of a patients worsening condition.

Algae and Biofuel Production

Algae is used to transform water and CO2 into methane and oxygen. High carbon dioxide levels are required to maximize methane production, while low oxygen levels are required to protect the organisms. We offer CO2 sampling meters to insure peak algae production.

The perfect monitor

This monitor controller is what I have been looking for for 25 years. It keeps the co2 levels at the correct levels. When they go to high the fan kicks on and runs until the co2 reaches 800 parts per million, which is the default setting. I just purchase 3 more one for each of my grow rooms. I feel they are very reasonable priced as well.

Excellent Once Installed

The installation was difficult given the terrible instructions for a novice like me. Specifically, the wiring instructions assumed an understanding of thermostat wiring that required hours of Googling for me to comprehend. Now that it’s installed, I wonder why every new home doesn’t come with this standard to control the air exchanger. It is amazing to know that fresh air is drawn when needed, and not when it isn’t needed. This improves health and reduces energy loss. I was amazed to learn just how much CO2 I was allowing to build up in my house now that I can see the levels with this monitor. Now it is a joy to know my family has consistent fresh air (without running the exchanger into bankruptcy. :)

Better sleep

Kept sleeping like crap and waking up in the middle of night. Couldn't figure out why. Then I thought about co2 because I slept in a 10x10 room with the windows and door shut. Got this monitor and levels were 2500-3250ppm. Decided to start cracking door when I sleep with a 4" swing bar door lock. Now the levels never go above 2000ppm and are usually 1300-1900ppm. I sleep better now and rarely wake up in the middle of night. My advice is to crack windows as much as possible. Do it at night if you live in a hot climate. With nobody in the room that brings my level down from about 1200ppm to 700ppm. And always sleep with your door cracked at least 3"-4". The more the better. You can get a 4" swing bar door lock at Walmart for $5 if you need security.

Good for situational evaluation

I'm immunosuppressed, but with the "end of COVID" I will need to spend more time in rooms with multiple other people. CO2 is a good way of monitoring room ventilation, and I have been evaluating room safety based on the meter's readings. I have no way of evaluating the accuracy of the CO2 readings, but the humidity and temperature readings are spot on, so I feel the CO2 readings should be close enough for me to make a good estimate of a room's safety.
