Zirconia Oxygen Analyzer for Boiler, Combustion

CO2Meter Oxy-Flex O2 Oxygen Sensor

CO2Meter has been fortunate to work alongside many sensor partners in the industry and cherishes the long-standing relationships with our partners. In offering SST Sensing Ltd. products, we recognize that we are ensuring unique, proven, and innovative solutions to customers across a variety of industries and applications.

One popular sensing solution that continues to be at the forefront across a variety of industrial applications is the Oxy-Flex Oxygen Analyzer (OXY-FLEX-1-H)

In partnering with SST Sensing Ltd, CO2Meter was able to provide customers with this oxygen analyzer which is designed for a variety of industrial applications including combustion control, exhaust pipes, smokestacks, boiler flues, coal, gas, and many others.

Oxy-Flex Oxygen Analyzer - CO2 Meter

While these processes require measuring oxygen closed systems, the analyzer is designed to measure the oxygen concentration in air or gas mixtures across temperatures of -100 to 400⁰C. With the Oxy-Flex-1-H analyzer, the user can acquire a continuous measurement of oxygen levels, due to the heartbeat signal which is generated providing an immediate warning should any failures occur. Too little oxygen results in incomplete combustion creating harmful emissions. Setting the boiler to burn with excess oxygen is the normal solution to reducing emissions.

As overhead costs of fuel consumption and system value are high in large scale industrial and commercial boilers/furnaces optimizing processes is extremely important. In order to see the optimal return on investment and minimal running costs, the operation must be kept at peak efficiency.

One popular application that utilizes the Oxy-Flex Analyzer is in ventilation pipes and boiler exhaust flues. Complete combustion requires the correct ratio of fuel and oxygen; this is optimized and maintained by measuring the output of the oxygen level of the exhaust/flue gas by using an oxygen sensor in a closed-loop feedback system to a controller for regulating the input mix. This is especially useful when the quality of fuel supplied may vary (i.e. gas from different sources).

With zirconium dioxide oxygen sensor technology and integrated electronics, like the OXY-Flex oxygen analyzer, is the best solution.  The analyzer offers digital or analog industry-standard outputs for communication and control. An additional advantage of utilizing the OXY-FLEX-1-H is its long life which comes from its non-depleting sensor cell technology. No reference gas is required and easy single-point calibration can be performed by the user, either in fresh air or any other known oxygen concentration.

Overall, the OXY-FLEX-1-H offers an accurate measurement range (0.1 to 25% O₂ or 0.1 to 100% O₂), extremely fast response time (as little as 4 seconds!), and the sensor is RoHS compliant. Users will be have the ability to measure a wide oxygen range and not have a need to implement their own electronics.

With the oxygen analyzer's unique stainless steel construction, this device gives the ability to function across the most rugged and robust environments; providing reliable and ready to use solutions - for years to come.

Additional features include:

  • Zirconium dioxide technology
  • 0-25% or 0-100% O2 measurements
  • Operates across -100 to 400C temperatures
  • Configurable outputs: 4-20mA and 0-10Vdc or RS232
  • Easy Calibration (fresh air or known O2 concentrations)
  • Housed in a sealed die-cast aluminum housing
  • Response time: < 15 seconds
  • Probe length: 400mm (~15.75")
  • Long-life, non-depleting technology
  • Low-maintenance

Fixed industrial oxygen safety monitors also play a crucial role in boiler applications by ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the overall boiler systems. These monitors continuously track the oxygen levels within the boiler environment, providing real-time data that is essential for maintaining optimal combustion conditions.

Proper oxygen levels are also necessary to achieve efficient fuel burning, reduce emissions, and prevent incomplete combustion, which can lead to the production of hazardous carbon monoxide. Moreover, oxygen monitors help in detecting leaks or inadequate ventilation, which could otherwise pose significant safety risks, including the potential for explosions or fires.

By promptly alerting operators to any deviations from the ideal oxygen concentration, fixed industrial oxygen safety monitors contribute to enhanced operational safety, regulatory compliance, and overall energy efficiency in boiler applications.
